WASHINGTON – On September 2, US President Donald Trump denounced AI for a viral video that appears to show a black bag being dumped from the windows of a white house.
Trump's claims came despite US media previously saying that White House officials had said contractors had disposed of the trash during the renovation.
“No, it's probably generated by AI,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when reporters asked about the video.
“In fact, you can't open the windows. Why are they all armored and bulletproof?”
Trump asked journalist Peter Doucy of Fox News to show him the video.
The short clip, which went viral over the weekend, shows a discarded black plastic bag through an open window on the second floor of the White House, a private presidential residence.
After Doucy approached the lecture and showed it to him, the 79-year-old said it was “a little scary.”
But before Trump was asked about it, US media outlets, including The New York Times, cited the White House press office saying the video was real, but that was not questionable.
Instead, contractors were shown doing “regular maintenance” while Trump was absent.
Internet rumours were not the only rumor that Trump was forced to unveil September 2nd. He also dismissed a series of social media-driven rumors about his health, including that he may be dead, as “fake news.” AFP
