The number of video clips released on Chinese social media has been rising sharply, marking 80 years since World War II ended in the wake of the military parade scheduled for September 3rd.
In one video, the wartime emperor transforms into a schoolgirl in uniform, while another is portrayed as a dog under the title “General MacArthur trains his dog. I am a big dog.” Douglas MacArthur was the commander of the Allied occupation forces after the surrender of Tokyo.
On Tuesday, His Excellency Entrance Officer Yoshimatha Hayashi described the short clip as “inappropriate” and confirmed that the representation was made in Beijing through diplomatic channels to take measures to remove the footage.
“The video is inappropriate,” Hayashi said at a press conference in Tokyo. “We have called for prompt and appropriate action in light of the negative impact on Japan-China relations.”
Guo Zi-Kun, a spokesman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was quoted from Kyoto News, saying that Beijing was “still checking the information” on the issue.
