A video purporting to show the attack there is now going viral. In this article, we debunk two such videos. In particular, no reliable reports of such attacks were found.

The first video shows an explosion at what appears to be a refinery. share the videouser X wrote, “Iran is shelling the Dimona nuclear reactor in the Negev. Iran has crossed a red line by bombing the Space Science Center in Tehran.”
When I reverse searched the keyframes from the video, I found the same footage. Published by CNBC According to news outlets, video showed an explosion at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery, the longest continuously operating refinery on the U.S. East Coast.
We also found a video published by Local 4 News on the same day. The news agency said video showed a massive explosion at a Philadelphia refinery. He also noted a series of explosions that shook homes as far away as southern New Jersey.
AI is not real
The video shows smoke and fire coming from three chimneys that appear to be from a nuclear power plant. You can see the flames burning in the back. X user shared a video The caption reads, “Iran targets Israel’s Dimona nuclear reactor.”
When facilities, especially nuclear facilities, are attacked by missiles or air strikes, fire and smoke are generated in a very chaotic manner. However, this video shows smoke coming out of the three chimneys very evenly.
The fire is huge but has not spread. Also, the chimney stands undamaged and does not appear to be covered in flames. These discrepancies suggest that the video may have been generated by AI.
We tested the video using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation and concluded it was synthetic 98.1% of the time.
Therefore, we conclude that neither video shows an explosion at the Israeli nuclear facility near Dimona.
