Apple recently approached Alphabet's Google to develop a custom AI model to power the redesigned SIRI next year, the report says.

It's been a few weeks since Apple decided whether to stick to its internal SIRI model or switch to an external partner, and has yet to select a partner.

Google said it didn't respond when the iPhone maker contacted, but it didn't comment on the report.

Apple has lagged behind the deployment of its generation AI features by smartphone manufacturers such as Google and Samsung. It quickly integrates advanced assistants and advanced models across the product.

Potential shifts occur after the delays of many years of Siri overhaul designed to use personal context to perform tasks and allow for full voice-based device control.

The upgrade was originally scheduled for this spring last year, but was pushed back a year ahead due to an engineering setback.

Siri has historically been less capable than Alexa and Google Assistant by processing complex multi-step requests and integrating with third-party apps.

Bloomberg News also discussed artificial and potential partnerships with Openai, considering whether previously reported Bloomberg News could empower Claude or ChatGpt on improved Siri.
