9mobile and Microsoft recently introduced artificial intelligence (AI) in storytelling as part of the telco's capacity-building sessions for media professionals, aimed at providing journalists with innovative tools to improve their writing skills. We worked together to train some journalists on how to utilize .

The learning session held at the Microsoft Africa Development Center provided journalists with a platform to introduce them to the benefits of Microsoft Copilot and its potential to help media professionals write better stories.

Microsoft Copilot is an advanced AI-powered tool that offers a wide range of features designed to streamline your workflow, increase productivity, and improve the quality of your output.

Chineze Amanfo, 9mobile's PR leader, said the partnership between 9mobile and Microsoft is about providing journalists with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively utilize Copilot in their daily work.

She said the telco is committed to fostering innovation and empowerment within the media industry. “At 9mobile, we recognize that the media plays a vital role in shaping public debate and driving social change,” Amanfo said.

She further said that Copilot will help journalists improve their ability to carry out their duties efficiently by disseminating accurate and impactful information to the public. “We prioritize relations with the media, so we need regular capacity building sessions for journalists,” Amanfo said.

Yemi Orimolade, senior business program manager for marketing communications at Microsoft Africa Development Center, said journalists need to champion messages about AI responsibility. He says Copilot is poised to be transformative for media professionals.

He further added that following the successful holding of the capacity building session, 9mobile and Microsoft will continue to collaborate in more areas to drive positive change and innovation within the Nigerian media ecosystem. He said he was looking forward to doing it.
