hyderabad: Women in Hyderabad are increasingly participating in generative AI courses, gradually closing the gender gap in artificial intelligence learning, but overall enrollment remains dominated by men.
According to a report by online learning platform Coursera, in 2025, the proportion of female generative AI learners in Hyderabad will be 37%, up from 34% in 2024, an increase of 3 percentage points within a year. The remaining 63 percent of learners were male.
Across India, women complete generative AI courses at 3% higher rates than men, and once enrolled, they have higher completion rates, the report notes.
Some AI-related courses have recorded relatively high female participation rates. These include Adobe’s Generative AI Content Creation with 48.2 percent women, Meta’s Social Media Management with 44.9 percent, and Adobe’s Design Fundamentals with AI at 44.4 percent.
Another course that has a large number of female participants is the Satisfaction Guaranteed Course. Google’s “Increase customer loyalty online” at 41.8 percent, “Design user experiences for social good and prepare for work at Google” at 41.7 percent, and Google Cloud’s “Getting started with Google Workspace with Gemini” at 40.7 percent.
Courses focused on the fundamentals of AI and machine learning also have strong female participation. Amazon Web Services Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals recorded a female enrollment rate of 37.3 percent, and Google AI Essentials reported 38.9 percent participation.
Data from learners in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also shows strong interest in practical AI courses such as GenAI forEveryone, Data Analysis and Visualization with Python, and Natural Language Processing with TensorFlow.
According to Coursera’s analysis, application-oriented courses that demonstrate real-world uses of AI are more likely to attract female participation compared to purely technical programs.
