According to data from Microsoft (MSFT), 75% of professionals are using AI in some form, and more employers are seeking workers with artificial intelligence experience. How will future employees learn how to use AI, and where can they find these upskilling opportunities?
Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of Coursera (COUR), appeared on Wealth! to provide insight into the online course provider's current AI education curriculum to help improve workers' skill sets, as well as comment on the demographics and industries that are making the most use of these courses.
“What's interesting in the US is that we're seeing more women taking Coursera courses. But if you look at the enrollment in the generative AI course, it's 70% male and 30% female. So it's clearly skewed male at the moment. This is a bit worrying because a lot of research has shown that the roles most likely to be affected by generative AI are those that work with language, voice and video, which are often filled by female employees.”
“Millennials make up over 50% of Generative AI enrollments, followed by Gen Z, then Baby Boomers, and geographically Texas and India. It seems like everyone in Texas and India wants to learn Generative AI,” Magioncalda explains.
