Bangalore: The Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences and Linguistics (SASL), VIT Bhopal University, successfully organized a three-day international workshop titled “Numerical and Optimization Techniques for Machine Learning in Real-World Applications” from February 11 to 13, 2026 in online mode. The technical sponsorship of this workshop was extended by Madhya Pradesh Council for Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal.

This workshop aimed to bridge the gap between basic mathematical principles and their applications in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). It brought together eminent academics, researchers and industry experts from top institutions in India and Europe, creating a rich interdisciplinary learning environment.

The first session was held on February 11, 2026, and was attended by senior university officials, faculty, and participants. The program began with Saraswati Vandana followed by a welcome address by SASL Dean Dr. Hemant Kumar Nasine. The introduction of the workshop was given by Dr. Anant Kant Shukla (convener) and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Neha Chaubey, convener of the workshop. Special thanks to MPCST, Bhopal for technical sponsorship and university management for institutional support.

Three days of expert lectures covered a wide range of advanced topics, including the statistics behind large-scale language models, fuzzy logic and nonlinear differential equations, computational intelligence, spectral and numerical methods in ML, dynamical systems, chaos and bifurcation, Möbius transformations in robust ML, applications of game theory, mathematical modeling in biological systems, the evolving AI landscape, security assurance frameworks, and more.

Eminent speakers from institutions such as IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, Chennai Mathematical Institute, South Asian University, ABV-IIITM Gwalior, Sweden RISE Research Institutes, and International Research Institutes conducted expert sessions and enriched the academic discussion.

The workshop concluded with a valedictorian’s session, distribution of certificates, and participant feedback. A final assessment and quizzes were conducted to reinforce the learning outcomes. Participants appreciated the academic depth of the sessions and expressed strong interest in similar programs in the future.

The workshop marked an important academic milestone, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration and reinforcing VIT Bhopal University’s commitment to research, innovation, and advanced scientific learning.
