Government initiatives and panel discussions
Over the past decade, the Department has introduced several initiatives to support technology-driven learning through digital platforms, policy reforms, capacity development and research programs across schools and higher education.
Following last year’s Budget announcement, the government established a Center of Excellence for AI in Education at IIT Madras. The ministry also consulted with academia, industry and civil society to develop a roadmap for integrating AI into education. Recently, the Minister also chaired the two-day ‘Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026’ and met founders of education startups.
The summit session included a panel discussion with Zoho Corporation founder and CEO Sridhar Venbu, technologist Vibhu Mittal, Peak XV Partners managing director Rajan Anandan, IIT Kanpur director Manindra Agrawal, IIT Madras director V Kamikoti, and IIT Bombay professor Sunita Sarawagi. The discussion was moderated by Manoj S Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu.
Panel discussions discussed governance frameworks, national learning platforms, local innovation, and the responsible use of advanced technology in education. The session aimed to develop India’s national roadmap for integrating AI in education and strengthen collaboration between government, industry, and academic institutions.
