MediaNama hosted a roundtable on Governing the AI Ecosystem on July 11 to better understand the challenges that need to be addressed when considering AI regulation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a transformative technology that has the potential to revolutionize various sectors, including healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. However, widespread adoption of AI faces obstacles in the form of regulatory challenges, including issues around delegating responsibilities among various players in the AI ecosystem.
The roundtable sought answers to questions such as: To what extent can developers be held responsible for their models? How should responsibility be distributed between developers, deployers and end users? How should liability be managed when AI models are integrated into existing systems? Are conversations with chatbots private or public? How can regulation take into account the probabilistic nature of AI output?
