The VC also directed law faculties to enhance practical learning. As part of this initiative, students are provided regular opportunities to interact with senior judges and experienced lawyers, helping to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world legal practice. By introducing AI as an elective, we hope to familiarize students with emerging technologies that are rapidly transforming the legal profession. AI tools are now widely used in areas such as legal research, case law analysis, contract review, due diligence, and predicting legal outcomes. Understanding these tools prepares law students for future roles in litigation, corporate law, policy development, and legal technology startups. Faculty believe that exposure to AI will improve analytical skills and help students adapt to global trends in legal education. It will also open new career paths for students interested in legal innovation, cyber law, data protection and technology law. “LU’s purpose is to help students remain future-ready,” said Varun Chachal, professor of law.
