US President Donald Trump has released an artificial intelligence (AI) video that shows him throwing late-night TV host Stephen Colbert into a trash can, further escalating a long-standing feud between the two public figures.
The altered clip shared by President Trump was released after Stephen Colbert’s show “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” last aired on CBS, ending his 11-year stint as host.
According to CBS, Colbert’s show had the highest ratings throughout its time slot, but due to financial difficulties, the show ended on May 21, 2026.

The cancellation was controversial, with Colbert deciding to end the show after criticizing CBS’ parent company Paramount over his legal settlement with Trump. Paramount then sought regulatory approval for a major merger.
The video quickly went viral after being shared online by President Trump. The AI-controlled footage shows President Trump picking Colbert up and throwing him into a trash can in a corner of the set. The video then cuts to President Trump dancing to the Village People’s hit song “YMCA” in front of a jubilant crowd.
Trump and Colbert feud
Mr. Colbert’s late-night monologues often criticized the president and the Republican Party.
During Trump’s first term as president, Colbert emerged as one of Trump’s harshest critics on CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” President Trump also responded to Colbert’s jokes and comments. President Trump went so far as to call Colbert “talentless” and accuse the network TV host of continuing to be biased.
