Bengaluru police have booked a user of the Instagram account ‘Kannada Chitralanga’ for allegedly creating an AI-edited video showing Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar pushing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to the ground.

The complaint was filed by legal practitioner Deepu CR, who shared a link to an Instagram post and said the video was AI-edited. Posted with the caption DKShi avar heege maadabaradittu, It means “DKS shouldn’t have done this.”

According to the complainant, the accused imitated the news channel’s broadcast and created a fake video showing breaking news footage of Mr. Shivakumar pushing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The video allegedly contained statements such as “Mr. Shivakumar pushed CM Siddaramaiah and the latter fell down”, “It happened during a meeting” and “An enraged DKS pushed the CM”.

The complainant said the video was of a nature that could tarnish the image of both politicians and disturb public peace and harmony.

Following the complaint, the Sadashivanagar police registered an FIR under Section 192 (deliberately provoking with intent to provoke riot), Section 336(4) (forgery) and Section 353 (utterances leading to public mischief) of the BNS. Police have not yet identified a suspect.
