Around 20 YouTube channels have created AI-generated videos containing misinformation about the sex trafficking trials of music mogul Diddy Combs.
This misleading surge in content poses the risk of public understanding of the seven-week trial of musicians in New York. There, the ju apprentices were deliberating to determine whether the ju apprentice was the leader of a criminal organization that coordinated forced sexual encounters with the escort.
The sensational AI-generated channel collected around 70 million views last year from around 900 videos related to musicians, according to data collected by Indicator, a US publication focusing on digital misinformation.
The video generally features AI-generated thumbnails depicting famous people lined up with the witnesses along with the image of Diddy.
One channel, Pak Gov Update, has released a nearly 30-minute video titled “Jay-Z Breaks Mhis Silence on Diddy Controversy,” which includes a thumbnail of the American rapper. The thumbnail draws the CD with a makeup quote in which Jay Z sobs and says, “I'm going to die soon.”
Pak Gov Update shares a similar video featuring false testimonies attributed to other celebrities, such as American comedian Kevin Hart and Singer-Songwriter Ausher.
The channel has started posting highly publicized trial content in recent weeks, which had previously focused on Urdu content related to Pakistan.
AI Slops are increasingly appearing on social media platforms, often low-quality visual content generated by inexpensive, easily accessible artificial intelligence tools that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction.
Many content creators on YouTube and Tiktok are advertising paid courses to profit from viral AI slops on technology platforms. Many have reduced reliance on human fact checkers and reduced content moderation efforts.
Combs, 55, faces a life sentence prospect if convicted of five federal charges, including assault, sex trafficking and transport for the purposes of prostitution.
Experts warn that the conspiracy theory and inaccuracy surrounding his trial have recently become popular on social media platforms, putting factual information at risk and affecting real witnesses.
