[BEIJING] Tencent on Sunday (March 22) released a tool that integrates its WeChat messaging platform with OpenClaw agents, further deepening its push into artificial intelligence (AI) agents, which have become a key battleground for Chinese technology companies.
The software, called ClawBot, appears as a contact within WeChat and allows users of China’s most popular app, which has more than 1 billion monthly active users, to connect directly to OpenClaw.
Users can interact with the AI agent by sending and receiving commands through a messaging interface.
The integration comes as OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent that can perform tasks like transferring files and sending emails on behalf of users, has gained attention in recent weeks.
Users are rushing to install and experiment with agent products, and tech companies are exploring business opportunities even as authorities warn of security risks.
Tencent’s WeChat integration follows the company’s launch of its own suite of AI agents earlier this month, consisting of QClaw for individual users, Lighthouse for developers, and WorkBuddy for enterprises.
