Workato's developer Sandbox lets every company experience the power of Agent AI Automation

AI For Business

Workato Inc., a low-code business automation software company, wants to activate the artificial intelligence economy of its agents. To do so, you can access the entire suite of tools for building AI-powered agents for developers free of charge.

Announced at the company's WoW: World of Workato event, the Workato Developer Sandbox is a self-service offering that provides full access to the flagship Workato One platform. This allows developers to design, build and launch powerful AI agents that automate all types of business work completely free of charge despite limited usage.

Workato is the creator of a cloud-based platform that helps businesses automate workflows and integrate a variety of applications without the need for extensive coding skills. It is built around a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface and dozens of pre-built connectors, making it accessible to non-technical workers.

The Workato One platform represents a company's bet on the future of AI, envisaging a world where many business workloads once performed by humans are automated by intelligent agents. The company describes it as an “agent stack” and says it can serve as the basis for all agent AI operations.

Workato One has two main components, including the Workato Agent, which provides tools for designing AI agents.

Workato Agent allows anyone to build customized AI agents that blend the skills of a company with the business context and the governance needed to perform different types of tasks. This includes an agent studio with low code and no code user interface for configuring AI agents with over 635 skills. It also provides tools to link these agents to different knowledge bases, allowing you to securely retrieve and act on important business information.

When it comes to Workato orchestrate, this is similar to the “neurocentric” of agent operations, providing tools that allow users to coordinate AI agents' work and work with humans through chat-based services such as Slack and Microsoft teams.

Workato One specifically supports the model context protocol. This is the open standard for agent communications first developed by the human PBC. With MCP, businesses can safely and enable agent collaboration. Agents can work together to complete more complex tasks that require a wider skill set.

All of these features are now available for free to developers via Workato developer sandbox. This allows anyone to begin experimenting on the platform and see its power on their own. Developers have access to the full platform's capabilities, including agent integration, automation, and tools for data movement.

You will also have access to AI-Native features such as Workato Airo Copilots and Intelligent Document Processing, which have 50,000 free usage credits, allowing you to do enough work to showcase the productivity benefits your agents offer.

Developer Sandbox also provides access to a variety of developer toolsets, including connector software development kits, test automation, and application programming interfaces such as recipes. It also includes enterprise-grade governance, including security assertion markup language 2.0 for exchanging authentication and authentication identities between security domains, advanced encryption, and capabilities for exchanging audit logs.

“Everything we've built over the last decade is now available for free to developers,” said Adam Seligman, Chief Technology Officer. “Full platform, all connectors, agent studios, remote MCP servers. Everything is here. Today we'll build something great and have it for our users tomorrow.”

The developer's sandbox showcase is one of the main highlights of this year's WoW: World of Workato event. It's held over three days, changing the way many customers already run AI agents on a scale to automate real business processes and get the job done. The company is planning 15 production-grade demonstrations in collaboration with partners such as Amazon Web Services Inc., Workday Inc., Deloitte Touche Ltd. and Accenture Plc, along with multiple breakout sessions and hands-on labs.
