Samsung is serious about bringing AI to its phones and making those tools easily available to the general public. In the future, it may also include the ability to install unique AI-generated apps directly onto Galaxy smartphones.
Wonjoon Choi, Samsung’s head of mobile experience, told TechRadar that the company is considering the possibility of introducing vibe coding to Galaxy phones. Choi said, “While currently limited to off-the-shelf tools, Vibe Coding will allow users to tweak their favorite apps and create something customized to suit their needs.”
The ability to create and use your own apps to suit your needs is the ultimate personalization tool for your phone.
In the context of Android phones, which are a slightly more open system than something like iOS, support for Vibe coding could be a game-changer. The ability to create and use your own apps to suit your needs is the ultimate personalization tool for your phone.
personal control
You no longer need to rely on external developers over which you have no control or real influence. We’ve seen apps deteriorate over time time and time again, whether it’s through controversial redesigns, lost features, or the fact that developers decide to lock everything behind a subscription service. When you code your own app with Vibe, everything is exactly as you need it, so if something goes wrong, just create a new app.
OK, this might be a huge oversimplification of the whole process, but you get my point. Personal control has always been one of the things that made using Android great, and while companies like Google seem to want to slowly take it away, vibe coding could give it more power than ever.
The only downside is that we don’t know if or when this will come to Galaxy smartphones. Choi confirmed that the company is considering adding vibe coding, but that doesn’t mean it will be included in the Samsung Galaxy S27 or Galaxy S28. So we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the future.
