Steve Downs, the voice of Halo’s Master Chief, is accusing President Donald Trump’s White House of releasing “disgusting and juvenile war porn” videos on social media. The video featured a montage of Master Chief, voiced by Downs, along with clips from “Iron Man,” “Top Gun,” “Tropic Thunder,” and more. Pro-war videos touted “American-style justice.”
“I have become aware that there is at least one propaganda video circulating that was produced, or at least supported, by the White House that uses Master Chief’s image and uses my voice to support the Iran war,” Downs posted on X. “To be clear, I did not participate or was consulted, nor do I endorse the use of my voice in this video or the message it conveys.”
“I demand that the producers of this disgusting youth war porn remove my voice immediately,” the voice actor added.
Downs was not the only celebrity to appear in the White House’s pro-war video and speak out against their participation. Ben Stiller also responded with an X, objecting to the video’s use of the “Tropic Thunder” clip.
“Mr. White House, please remove the ‘Tropic Thunder’ clip,” Stiller posted. “We have never given you permission and we have no interest in becoming part of your propaganda machine. War is not a movie.”
The White House regularly angers celebrities by using their work in social media videos that support war, support ICE, or defend Trump. Kesha became the latest pop star to slam the White House after her song “Blow” was used in another pro-war video. Last year, Sabrina Carpenter called the White House “evil and disgusting” for using her song “Juno” in a video promoting ICE raids.
