Samsung's recent One UI 6.1 update introduced impressive Galaxy AI features to several smartphones. There is now speculation that Samsung will continue this trend with its next incremental update, One UI 6.1.1.

“Video AI” is a bit of a mysterious term, but it certainly arouses curiosity and there are some possibilities as to the possibilities that come with it. It could allow users to create videos using AI, perhaps by entering a text description or using an existing image as a base. This is a very useful feature, especially for content creators who want to create videos using voiceovers rather than filming themselves.
Another possibility is that this refers to an AI-powered video editing tool that could make advanced object removal and other complex edits much easier within Samsung's software. It's like generative fill, potentially allowing you to expand the frames of your existing video and fill in elements in the background to make it look like you're somewhere else.
I've seen this neat trick used in other AI tools like Adobe Firefly and Canva using still images and keyframes in video editors. It wouldn't be too strange to see something like this implemented on a device for short videos. Again, this is speculative, but “video AI” could suggest something completely unexpected, something we've never seen before.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung's current smartphones will get a taste of “video AI” with One UI 6.1.1 or if the company will postpone it until the One UI 7 update. It's also no secret that Samsung's AI secret sauce comes from Google's Gemini model, so we might get a hint of it at next month's Google I/O.
