Elon Musk has announced that his Grok AI Chatbot's new Imagine video and image generation capabilities are now available for free to all users. The new feature was announced a few days ago and was limited to paid users, but Musk and the Xai team have decided to roll out the new feature to free users after Openai released its GPT-5 model on Thursday.
After the announcement, Grok has become one of the first widely available chatbots to offer video generation capabilities for free. Openai has a SORA Text-to-Video model, and Google has a similar VEO 3 model, both of which are locked behind the paywall.
While using Grok Imagine, users can first generate or upload images, and then the chatbot offers the option to convert them to videos.
Grok Imagine has many creative modes, including regular, fun, habit, spicy and more. Chatbot's Spicy Mode is an opt-in feature that can generate NSFW art and is also restricted by age caps. The chatbot can generate up to 15 seconds of video with synchronous audio.
The new feature is currently in its early beta stage and is only available for Grok iOS and Android applications, and there is no information yet on when it will arrive on a dedicated website.
How do you use Grok's imagination?
Open the Grok app on your phone or update the app to the latest version.
Fill in and go to the chat window.
You will now see a new Imagine tab in the top right corner. Please click.
Enter a text prompt that describes the scene, style, or action you want for the image you want.
You can also upload images from the gallery and ask them to make changes to AI.
Before Grok Imagine, Xai had deployed his company's iOS apps with devoted companions to Grok apps called Ani, Rudi and Valentine.
