Nokian Tires is expanding the use of artificial intelligence across its IT operations through a partnership with TCS to modernize application management and enhance operational efficiency across the business.

Finnish tire manufacturer leverages TCS to support application management, development and on-site support services, while implementing AI-driven automation across key business functions.

This initiative will help improve efficiency, resilience and scalability across Nokian Tire’s IT environment, while laying the foundation for greater adoption of automation, artificial intelligence and data-driven services.

Timmy McClellan, chief information officer at Nokian Tires, said the partnership will help establish a globally unified operating model while increasing agility and operational efficiency.

“This strategic partnership with TCS will enable Nokian Tires to achieve a globally unified, agile and efficient operating model to support its business needs,” said McClellan.

He added that this initiative will create a sustainable foundation for increased adoption of automation, data-driven solutions and artificial intelligence across the organization.

As part of the partnership, TCS will provide end-to-end application management services across the company’s application environment.

This includes systems that support engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial and corporate operations.

According to the companies, this initiative will help Nokian Tires accelerate the adoption of new ways of working while enabling it to respond more effectively to changing business requirements.

The partnership aims to simplify and enhance IT operations through the use of AI-driven and agent-driven automation capabilities built into core operational processes.

Manufacturers looking to improve efficiency and service delivery

By integrating automation into IT operations, Nokian Tire expects to improve problem resolution time, reduce operational costs, and increase resiliency through an integrated digital infrastructure.

The move comes as manufacturers increasingly apply artificial intelligence beyond the production environment and across enterprise technology operations to improve efficiency, agility and service delivery.

For large manufacturing organizations, the application environment often spans engineering systems, factory operations, supply chain platforms, and enterprise applications.

Efficiently managing these environments has become critical as enterprises pursue digital transformation initiatives and seek greater operational visibility.

For TCS, this initiative expands on our work with manufacturing customers who want to modernize their technology operations while incorporating AI into their core business processes.

Anupam Singhal, President, Manufacturing, TCS, said manufacturers are adopting AI-enabled operations and digital ecosystems to build more resilient and sustainable businesses.

“Our collaboration reflects this change. We are building a modern, insight-driven technology foundation that will help Nokian Tires accelerate innovation, respond quickly to market changes and improve manufacturing outcomes,” said Singhal.

This announcement highlights the growing role of managed service providers in helping companies operationalize AI across their existing technology environments, rather than limiting deployment to standalone pilot projects.

Rather than focusing solely on new AI applications, organizations are exploring how artificial intelligence can improve service management, automate routine tasks, optimize support functions, and improve operational decision-making across business-critical systems.

For Nokian Tire, this partnership represents another step in strengthening the technology foundation that supports our global operations, while enabling broader use of automation and intelligent services.

TCS has maintained operations across the Nordic region since 1991, serving customers in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The company said it will continue to support businesses across the region through digital transformation, application modernization and technology services efforts.
