Nigeria Draft Framework for Governance and Services Use

Applications of AI

In the global report, 63% of employers said that AI has significantly increased productivity in the workplace.

According to IT regulators, Nigeria is preparing a national framework to guide the responsible use of AI in governance, healthcare, education and agriculture.

NITDA Director Kashifu Abdullahi said in a policy lecture in Abuja that if AI is used properly, AI can accelerate economic transformation. He emphasized that Nigeria's youthful population should move from consumers to innovators and creators.

He urges stakeholders to view automation as an opportunity to create jobs, highlighting that over 60% of Nigerians are under the age of 25. Abdullahi described the demographic as a key asset in positioning the nation for its global competitiveness.

Meanwhile, a joint report from the Digital Education Council and the Global Finance & Technology Network found that AI can increase productivity, but adoption remains uneven. It warned that there is growing disparity between organizations that use AI effectively and those that take a lag.
