Frontier development will no longer create portraits of scientists in Jurassic World Evolution following players' repulsions against disclaimers revealing the use of AI using generated AI.
Jurassic World Evolution 3 is a park management game based on the iconic dinosaur movie franchise, announced at Summer Game Fest 2025. The announcement piqued fans, and the trailer for the game has earned over a million views. However, fans quickly found an AI usage disclaimer on a Steam page explaining that generative AI is used for scientist portraits. Players quickly joined the Steam forum and complained about the use of AI in Jurassic World Evolution 3. Instead of designing these portraits for artists, some players called developers “lazy” and “pathetic” to use AI in the game.
Ultimately, Frontier's development responded to one of these threads and revealed that it “chosen to remove the use of AI for the generation of scientists' portraits in Jurassic World Evolution 3.” The studio reaffirmed this in a statement to Game Watcher. It was confirmed that the generated AI was removed “following initial feedback” and that the game will continue to make an announced release after this change. The AI disclaimer is not available on the Steam page either.
The use of generator AI is currently a very hot topic in the video game industry. It is used in studios like Activision, and even developers like Sakurai Masahiro Sakurai believe they are using it in game development. Generally, players don't like the use of generated AI in the game, but this Jurassic World Evolution 3 Backlash is simply the latest example.
