This tool is available today in the US and several other countries. According to Meta, the rollout is the company's first major step towards integrating AI-driven video editing throughout the ecosystem, with more advanced features planned later this year.
Users can upload a 10-second video and select for free for a limited time from over 50 AI-generated prompts. This feature can change everything from the user's costume and surroundings to the mood and aesthetics of the scene.
For example, rainy cityscapes can be converted into dreamy vignettes with glow and soft focus effects. You can also rethink selfie videos as vintage comic book panels or as high-intensity video game scenes.
Edited clips can be shared directly to Facebook, Instagram, or Discover Feed on the Meta AI app and website.
According to Meta, the new feature is designed for everyone, whether casual users looking to add Flair to family videos or content creators experimenting with new visual styles. The company worked closely with creators to develop a rapid theme that resonated with online audiences.
“The goal is to make high-quality videos intuitive and accessible to everyone,” Meta said in the announcement. “We want people to empower them to tell stories and experiment creatively.”
The launch is based on years of AI research in Meta. Starting with the 2022 Make-A-Scene model for multimodal generation, the company later introduced the Llama-based spreading model and the film Gen. This is a system that allows for custom video generation and text-based editing.
The new editing feature, inspired by the film Gen, is Meta's first consumer product in the generator AI video space. This lays the foundation for future updates that allow users to guide their editing using custom text prompts.
According to Meta, the update is expected to arrive later this year.
