Mrbeast's AI tool for generating YouTube thumbnails was only published a week ago, but it's already out.
The world's most subscribed YouTuber has published the tool via YouTube's creator help website, ViewStats, because his real name is Jimmy Donaldson. AI thumbnail generators were now available by paying for a BiewStats Pro Subscriber and were sold as a way to help creators with small viewers generate thumbnails for their videos. But the backlash is quick, with creators like Jacksepticeye and Pointcrow, and many X users accusing Donaldson of creating tools that actively harm artists' livelihoods.

The AI thumbnail generator is currently removed from ViewStats, and Donaldson shares the following video statement on X on Thursday night

“A week ago I launched an AI thumbnail tool that helps little creators create better thumbnails,” he says in the clip. “I thought people would be pretty excited about it, but I definitely missed Mark,” Donaldson says in a video post. “I've read all of your feedback and I've been thinking a lot about it, so we've enacted some changes that I think will make you positive.”
Donaldson said instead of AI tools, ViewStats users will find online prompts asking human artists to design thumbnails.
“There will be no AI thumbnail tools in the future. From now on, there will be no people signing up for viewstats pro, no AI thumbnail tools. It doesn't exist. I've pulled it down. And I wanted to take it a step further and take an artist a step further. You can make you a real thumbnail artist on the artist's portfolio page.”
Mrbeast has been hit with a lot of controversy recently. Fans recently complained about his experience at the immersive Las Vegas event, but his major video shows Beast Game Updated despite allegations of mismanagement on set.
