Microsoft plans to implement AI technology into video games.
At its Microsoft Surface and Windows AI event, the tech company showed off how its Copilot AI can act as a user guide in a variety of programs, including video games, according to Windows Central. Now, Microsoft has shown off two demos of the algorithm working in “Minecraft.”
In the first video released for X, the AI notices that the player needs help crafting a sword and starts making suggestions on how to get the resources needed to craft the weapon.
The second clip shows the algorithm warning a player who is being chased by a zombie to run away from their pursuer.
The AI says, “Run! Run now. Sprint or quickly build a tower of blocks straight up until you're out of reach.”
Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman emphasized that the company is “taking Copilot to the next level” through its video game implementation.
Of X, he writes, “The co-pilot sees, hears, speaks and helps in real time.”
In a subsequent post, he added, “Genuine personality. Easy-going interaction. The ability to see what we see. I've long maintained that an AI with EQ, IQ and AQ is coming. Here's your first glimpse at what it might be like.”
“It's a magical experience: smart, intuitive, natural and convenient.”
