Microsoft is once again shaking Bing Search Engine by integrating AI-powered video generators directly into the platform. Called Bing Video Creator, this tool uses Openai's SORA to create short video clips from simple text prompts. The new free feature is already available in the Bing Mobile app, and there are plans to make its subsequent debut on the desktop and then debut within Copilot Search.
The move isn't surprising as Microsoft has poured billions of dollars into Openai over the years to promote ambitious artificial intelligence projects. The tech giant previously brought Openai's Dall-E image generation capabilities to Bing in 2023, so it makes sense to include Sora's video tools.
Despite his groundbreaking abilities, Sora's debut was not entirely smooth. The launch was filled with controversy, including harsh warnings from YouTube CEOs. Furthermore, the model faces criticism and protest from several early test participants.
Sora was eventually widely available at the end of last year. However, while currently competing with rivals from other AI video models with more advanced features, such as Google's VEO 3, it's probably only a matter of time before Openai releases an update to SORA. There is no way to know when that update will arrive, as there has been no announcement from Openai so far.
