Bering, July 4th – Authorities have rejected a viral video claiming the existence of a cable vehicle that links Penkaran Furu to Keda's baling, saying it was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
Sinar Harian The cited Yazran Sunardi Che Yahaya confirmed that such projects were not present and urged the public not to be misled by digital content, which may seem to convince them.
“Of course, it doesn't exist… but I admit it was exciting. We were entertained, even if it was just generated content.
“Who knows, and one day it could become a reality. After all, Bering and Penkaran Full have the right and beautiful mountains and scenic views,” he said.
The video, which went viral on Tiktok and Facebook, reportedly encouraged the couple to travel more than 300km from Kuala Lumpur, wanting to experience the cable car as authentic and ride it comfortably.
Yazlan said the incident highlighted the way AI-generated media could mislead users and cause unnecessary confusion, adding that if that turns out to be a reality, it would be the first to try such appeal.
Deputy Director Ahmad Salimi Ali, deputy director of the baling district police chief, called on the public to verify online content before believing or sharing it.
“To date, we have not received any reports of losses, fraud or public concerns related to virus AI-generated videos.
“Checks made at both Baling and Pengkalan Hulu confirmed that there was no such cable car project,” he said.
He noted that if such content disrupts public alarms or order, it can take action under existing law.
The video, generated by AI, features a fictional news segment by “TV Rakyat,” depicts scenes of cable cars travelling through forests and mountains called “Kuak Skyride,” and was interviewed with tourists.
A hotel worker at Gerik in Perak told social media how they had to break the news to a couple who were shocked to find out that the charm was fake.
The woman reportedly cited the presence of a “reporter” in the video and asked why she was lying and even considering suing a fictional journalist.
The couple admitted that it was embarrassing for them to ask the kids about the video in advance, but hotel workers urged others to help older parents validate their travel plans.
