A Kuwaiti media organization plans to introduce a virtual news anchor created by AI and use it to present online news reports.
An AI news anchor named ‘Fedha’ was featured on the Kuwait News website’s Twitter account.
The Kuwait News website is linked to The Kuwait Times, founded in 1961 as the first English-language daily newspaper in the Gulf region. Abdullah Bokhtein, deputy editor-in-chief of both media, said the creation of AI newscaster “Fedha” is an experiment to explore the potential of AI to deliver fresh and innovative content.
According to Abdullah Boftain, in the future AI news anchor “Fedha” may use a Kuwaiti accent to read news reports on the Kuwait News website’s Twitter account. The account currently has his 1.2 million followers.
“I’m Fedha, the first Kuwaiti presenter on artificial intelligence at Kuwait News. What news do you like? Let me know what you think,” she said in Arabic.
