Microsoft's annual build event This year, the focus is naturally on AI. Big tech companies are all buying into the AI hype, with Google just recently showing off its own AI product at the Google I/O event held last week.
At the beginning of this year's build, Microsoft announced: team co-pilotis an AI chatbot that acts as a colleague for an entire team or company, using the group's shared knowledge to answer questions and queries. Mashable pointed out that Team Copilot is very similar to Google's AI chatbot for teams. AI TeammatesLast week, the company Google I/O.
But Microsoft wasn't done yet. Shortly after announcing Team Copilot, Microsoft shared another new AI product: Copilot Agents. It acts as his AI assistant for employees and colleagues. Again, this feature seems very similar to another AI product Google shared at Google I/O.
Microsoft's “Copilot Agents” sound familiar.
Copilot Agent is an AI-powered feature that can “independently and proactively coordinate tasks on your behalf,” according to Microsoft.
Users can provide Copilot with completely custom job descriptions or choose from several pre-built templates. Copilot then creates an AI agent that works in the background to complete any task that is part of a given job.

Copilot lets you ask for help when you encounter a situation that you can't handle or need more information. You can also reference all your existing knowledge and learn from new feedback to complete tasks.
Copilot agents can be built within Copilot Studio, and Microsoft claims it's easy enough for anyone to build their own agents to automate tasks.

Again, this may sound familiar, like Team Copilot and Google's AI Teammates. Last week, Google unveiled its own version of the AI personal assistant concept, AI Agent. Google provided an example where an AI agent could complete a refund for items from a user's online shopping order. Microsoft's example focuses on business automation, such as tasking Copilot Agent with new employee onboarding.
not ready for market yet
You might be interested in Microsoft's Copilot Agents or Google's AI Agents. However, like Microsoft's Team Copilot and Google's AI Teammates, neither is available to the public yet.
Microsoft says it is currently testing the feature with select groups and plans to offer a public preview later this year.
Microsoft and other big technology companies continue to focus on AI products. However, much of what is being advertised is not yet on the market. When these products are finally released, will they be able to do the tasks we say they can do? What if an AI agent from Microsoft or Google could complete the task for you? Can you trust it? Even if these concepts appeal to you, proceed with caution once they're released.
