AI agents expand across apps in Meta
The company says more than 1 million companies are already piloting the tool on WhatsApp and Messenger. Wednesday’s rollout expands the service globally and extends its reach to Instagram. The tool allows businesses to deploy customized AI agents to answer company-specific questions, recommend products from a digital catalog, book customers, qualify leads, and complete sales.
“Today, we’re introducing Meta Business Agents, which will enable any business to serve any customer as if they had an infinite team,” the company said in a statement. Meta said the AI can be set up in minutes and responds natively in the local language and voice of a business’s customer’s specific brand.
In addition to customer-facing duties, Business Agents work as operational assistants within a company. Automated “morning briefings” can be generated to keep business owners on top of unread messages overnight and provide threading insights. Meta plans to expand these internal capabilities in the future to manage calendars, conduct market research, and provide competitive intelligence.

The tool is currently free to start, but Meta confirmed that it plans to move to a tiered paid subscription model for businesses of various sizes in the coming months.
The company also announced the Meta Business Agent Platform to cater to large enterprises. This infrastructure provides enterprise-grade guardrails and analytics and enables massive customization through integrations with hundreds of external customer relationship and e-commerce platforms, including Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee.
