Chelsea announce AI company IFS as shirt sponsor until end of season

AI For Business

Chelsea have announced that artificial intelligence company IFS will sponsor the club’s front of shirt until the end of the season.

The west London club has been without a long-term shirt sponsor since a lucrative deal with mobile phone company Three ended in 2023.

The agreement between IFS and Chelsea means that the IFS logo will immediately appear on the front of the men’s and women’s kits, with Liam Rosenior’s side wearing the new kits in Saturday’s Premier League game against Burnley, and Sonia Bompastor’s side to do the same in Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup match against Manchester United.

Chelsea described the deal as a “multi-year global partnership” but did not confirm whether IFS would remain the team’s main kit sponsor after the end of the current campaign. The club has not disclosed the amount of the contract.

IFS describes itself as the world’s leading provider of industrial AI software, delivering industry-specific, contextual intelligence trusted by the world’s leading organizations, according to a statement from Chelsea.

The contract with the AI company comes two and a half years after the three-year contract expired. Sports data technology company Infinite Athlete has become Chelsea’s front shirt sponsor on a short-term deal from September 2023. Last season, Chelsea were without a main shirt sponsor until UAE property developer DAMAC briefly appeared on the shirt in the final weeks of the campaign.

Chelsea President Jason Gannon said: “We are extremely proud to partner with IFS and leverage their cutting-edge AI software to lead the club to even greater success.” “This partnership is a statement of our intention to continue leading in this field, harnessing the opportunities presented by advanced technology and unlocking the power of AI to improve everything we do on and off the pitch.”
