Bhopal: A video of a leopard chasing a moving train and pulling passengers from the vehicle has gone viral on social media, causing panic in villages adjoining the Sanjay Dhubri Tiger Reserve (SDTR) in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district.

SDTR authorities said it was a general artificial intelligence (AI) fake video created with the aim of spreading panic in the region.

The video showed the leopard chasing the train through the forest and pulling out passengers standing near the bus door.

The footage showed the leopard repeatedly trying to attack passengers sitting near the windows of the bus, causing panic among the passengers.

In the final attempt, the leopard was seen on video snatching a passenger standing near the entrance of the bus.

According to reports reaching here on Tuesday, the viral video has triggered a fear psychosis among locals of a village located on the periphery of the tiger reserve.

However, SDTR's Chief Conservator of Forests (DFO) Rajesh Khanna T told the media that it was an AI-generated video and was circulated to create fear among locals.

“No such incidents have taken place in that area,” he clarified.

Besides, a leopard cannot run fast enough to catch a moving train, he added.
