It looks like the next obvious miracle of generative AI is here. We’ve seen AI text-to-image generators and even text-to-video conversions. Well, this is where the text-to-website transmission begins. Several companies are working on AI models that can create fully dynamic websites from simple text prompts.
Is this the end of web design? Probably not – at least not yet. Dora AI is still in alpha testing, and it’s not yet clear if it’s as versatile as the best website builder templates. However, it looks like it could be a great tool for those who want a quick and simple site (see Picking the Best AI Art Generators for Text-to-Image Tools).
Dora is a no-code website builder that uses a text-based AI generator to create websites with 3D animations and interactions. There’s a waiting list to get access to the alpha version, but judging by the introductory video, anyone can start creating a website in no time without having to spend time choosing from a plethora of ready-made templates.
This sleek video shows Dora generating a website design from a text prompt to “Design a website for the SpaceX spacecraft.” The resulting design seems to be tweakable by prompting for more specific elements, such as “replace with 3D model”.
Dora says the ability to generate 3D assets and animations saves time here as well. Her design lead, Faye Zheng, told her Product Hunt: “By combining the power of generative AI with intuitive no-code tools, we hope to give every team and individual unlimited design flexibility beyond technical and learning barriers,” she said. “
It’s not clear if the promotional video actually uses AI exclusively or was designed manually to demonstrate the concept. And of course, there’s a lot more to get your site up and running. We’ll have to wait for access to see just how versatile and accurate this tool is.
Dora isn’t the only startup working on a web builder that uses AI to generate or replicate site designs. There is also Gamma and his 10Web (see video above) which focuses on generating websites, documentation and decks.
