Mayo Clinic will host its 2024 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit, “Generative Multimodal AI – Opportunities and Challenges,” in Rochester and virtually from July 8 to 9. The event will bring together AI experts and the medical community to discuss advances in large-scale multimodal models and their use in healthcare.

“The role of artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving in a variety of fields, from disease prevention and diagnosis to developing new treatments,” said Cui Tao, PhD, dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics. “This summit is an exciting opportunity to explore the possibilities while navigating the challenges of developing and using transformative technologies in healthcare,” said Dr. Tao, the Nancy Peretsman and Robert Scully Dean of the School of AI and Informatics.
The event is hosted by the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Analytics in collaboration with Mayo Clinic's AI Community.

The AI Summit will provide an opportunity to hear from AI experts, share knowledge, and network through lightning talks, panel discussions, and poster sessions.
The keynote speakers are:

“Beyond a Million Slides: How the Era of Foundational Models Will Accelerate Precision Medicine.” - Dr. Anant Madhavshi, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Emory University
“Walking the talk: Validating AI for precision medicine through clinical trials” - Shauna Overgaard, co-director of AI validation and governance at Mayo Clinic
“Implementing a quality control system to close the AI translation gap and promote safe, ethical and effective health AI solutions.” - Hui-Hun Poon, general manager of Health Futures at Microsoft Research
“The Emergence of Multimodal Generative AI in Biomedicine”
Hamid Tizhoosh, PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Information Sciences, will be the chairman of the event.

Registration and Abstract Submission
Registration fees for Mayo Clinic and external participants are $350 for both in-person and virtual attendance, with a discounted rate of $250 for students.

You can submit your research in an AI-related field for consideration to present at the summit, which will cover a range of topics from generative AI and discovery science to AI bias and data security.

- Workshops/Tutorials
