While it’s natural for people to be extremely uncomfortable with the idea of AI coming and taking jobs, this newfound technology may not be as terrifying for the gaming industry.
According to a report from BBCAI will eventually create more games and more jobs in the process.
Dr Richard Wilson is CEO of TIGA, a trade association representing the interests of video game developers in the UK and Europe. In his statement he said
“AI reduces the cost of game production and speeds up the process.”
When people stop and think for a moment, video games have used this technology for a while, but AI seems to be the explosion the industry is looking for. People have been using low-grade AI since his 1980s, when he controlled Pac-Man in arcades and let him do what he wanted. Technology has made great strides, creating jobs as well as destroying them.
The future of AI for games
Continuing to use that kind of technology for game projects in the future means that game developers can rest easy at night. This unique format of advanced technology makes it easier to code and create graphics for video games, making it easier, with less effort, and more content to be released to the public faster.

These AI interfaces make it easier and faster to create scripts, narrations, and game models than the average developer, but that doesn’t mean there are some potential drawbacks as copyright considerations come into play. Since everything is AI-generated, it becomes a problem when trying to figure out who owns the copyright of content.

To get around this problem, some game studios are creating their own AI interface platforms. But it costs more for studios, and it costs more to make something ubiquitous and expensive that could be replaced in the next few years, so some studios don’t see the extra effort or value in doing it.
Daniel Wood, co-CEO of UKIE, a non-profit trade association for the video game industry, said in a statement:
“The video game industry has always been on the cutting edge of technology and is already leveraging AI in many areas such as production, art, in-game character interaction and community management to create even more exciting and engaging experiences for players.”
At this point, the arrival of AI seems as inevitable as the Thanos snap, and it’s only a matter of time before people realize the real impact of the AI world in the gaming industry. People are already spending so much money on this industry that it’s unlikely to go away. All we can do now is pray for the best.
