iOS 26 warns about inaccuracies in the summary
When I updated to iOS 26, I was greeted by several splash screens asking for various permissions. One splash screen was for a summary of AI notifications. When this screen appears, you have two options. Select the notification you want to summarize or Not now. If you want to tap Not nowthe splash screen will disappear.
If you want to tap Select the notification you want to summarize. You will be taken to a new page where you will see three categories: News and Entertainment, Communication and Social, and all other apps. Tap one of these categories to allow notification summaries for apps in that category. Below the News & Entertainment category is a warning that is outlined in red when tapped.
“The summary could change the meaning of the original heading,” the warning added, “checking the information.”
There is also a warning at the bottom of the screen that says, “This is a beta feature. The summary may contain errors.”
Tap the category you want, then tap Summary of selected notifications Cross the bottom of the screen. If all categories are selected, this button will read Summary of all notifications.
And if you don't need these summaries, you can tap Don't summarise notifications. You can allow these summaries and turn them off easily if you don't like them. This is the way.
How to turn off AI notification summary
1. Tap setting.
2. Tap notification.
3. Tap Summary of notifications.
4. Tap Summary of notifications Switch to the new menu.
You can also follow the steps above to turn on AI notification summary again. You will also need to select the categories that require these summaries again.
