India aims to build global consensus on the ethical use of AI for public benefit while limiting potential harm. Investment of USD 200 billion is expected.
The minister said India expects to see investments worth USD 200 billion across five layers of the artificial intelligence stack over the next two years.
He said that VCs’ commitment to deep tech startups is visible and exudes confidence that 50 deep tech companies will emerge from India in the next few years.
He said the government will order 20,000 GPUs within the next week and deployment will take place within the next six months, adding that a larger IndiaAI mission is also in the works.
“We will convene a summit to build consensus among world leaders on the proper and appropriate use of AI so that we can use it for the benefit of humanity and stop the harm that can result from inappropriate use,” Vaishnow said.
India has built a structure similar to DPI as part of the India AI Mission.
“We expect to add another 20,000 GPUs in addition to the 38,000 already in the common computing layer. We will order another 20,000 GPUs in the next week and will deploy them within the next six months,” the minister said at a briefing on the India AI Impact Summit.
He added that the government always strives to provide quality resources to start-ups, researchers and students.
