IIT Kanpur invites applications for short course on Applied Data Science and Machine Intelligence

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) has launched a short online course on ‘Applied Data Science and Machine Intelligence: Fundamentals of Next Generation AI’. This course will start for 45 days from June 1st to July 15th. Professor Rajesh Hegde of Kanpur Institute of Technology will be the course coordinator.

This program provides a journey into modern AI, covering ML fundamentals, deep learning algorithms, large-scale language models (LLM), GenAI applications, and real-world AI case studies. Learners will benefit from a combination of theory and practice through recorded and live sessions, totaling over 50 hours of learning time across over 10 practical projects. This course offers flexibility, including 24/7 access to materials, insightful expert speakers, and a schedule designed to fit a variety of needs.

Meanwhile, the 2000 graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) announced a pledge of Rs 100 crore to their alma mater during the Silver Jubilee Alumni Reunion held on campus. According to a statement from IIT-Kanpur, this is the highest pledge ever made by any academic institution in India.

With this Rs 100 million donation pledge to their alma mater, the Class of the Millennium proposes to support the establishment of ‘Millennium School of Technology and Society’ (MSSTAS) at Kanpur Institute of Technology. The announcement was a highlight of the Silver Jubilee Alumni Celebration, where alumni from around the world gathered to reaffirm IIT Kanpur’s commitment to its future while deepening ties with the campus, faculty and each other.
