HCltech EVP in filling the gap between CFO and scalable AI

Applications of AI

AI has moved on to a critical business mandate, but for many top technicians, they are persuading financial executives to approve AI investments.

As organizations move from pilot AI programs to broader digital transformation, the urgency around return on investment, risk management and technology choices has increased dramatically.

Apoorv Iyer is executive vice president of HCLTech, where he leads the company's Gen AI Practice.

Having dedicated nearly 20 years to Indian multinational IT companies, he witnessed evolution firsthand and stated that he “growed together with the company.”

From his involvement with CFOs in the manufacturing industry to his involvement with medical executives, he observed the transition from careful experiments to strategic, company-wide deployment of AI solutions.

In this discussion, he provides insight into overcoming resistance from C-suites, identifying the fastest sectors in which AI adoption is and explaining why Swift execution is more important than integrity in today's AI-driven environments, as shared with AI magazines.

In your own words, what is HCltech and how does it contribute to the technology and AI space?

HCLTech is now in its 49th year of existence and is celebrating its 50th anniversary next year.

We are one of the leading high-tech services and software product companies, with revenues of approximately US$15 billion and market capitalization exceeding US$50 billion.

Our Genesis was that we began as an engineering and product company in the late 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and then tried out services.

We have experienced multiple technological transformations over these years, and one of the things that has made a very important distinction between HCltech is that we are inherently very entrepreneurs.

Much of our business is incubated in-house. For example, the HCL Software Business, a pure software product business that started in 2016, is currently growing to almost 15% of revenue.

Similarly, the AI and GEN AI journeys we have started over the last few years have gained great traction.
