Without data there is no artificial intelligence. Since 2020, Decathlon has been focusing on data collection as a strategic lever. The retailer gets data not only from shoppers' purchases in its stores and webshop, but also from a number of services such as the Decathlon label and Decathlon Coach (a personal trainer app). Speaking to French trade magazine LSA, Didier Mamma, vice president of data insights, revealed how the retailer is adopting AI:

For example, Decathlon uses AI tools to measure price elasticity, competitiveness, price perception, and automate A/B testing.
