Google is rolling out a new feature for paid Gemini AI assistant users, allowing you to convert still photos into short video clips. Google AI Ultra and Pro Plan subscribers will have access to features through the web version of Gemini, and deployment to the Gemini mobile app is expected throughout the week.
How Google Gemini Photo-to-Video Features Work
The new feature allows users to generate 8-second video clips using sounds from one photo, enhanced by text descriptions provided at the prompt. According to Bloomberg, these videos are created as MP4 files at 720p resolution in a 16:9 landscape format.Google's photo to video feature is powered by the company's latest Veo 3 Video Generation The model was announced at the annual developer conference in May. VEO 3 It is also available through Flow, a standalone paid film production tool.Google says “we are implementing important steps behind the scenes to ensure that video generation is the right experience.” This includes banning video production from images of publicly identifiable individuals, such as celebrities and political leaders, and banning output that promotes dangerous activities or incites violence and bullying.A Google spokesperson acknowledged that, although there is no explicit indication that AI models change a person's appearance, photo-to-video generation and face animation are new technologies that could produce output that does not fully represent the original image. The spokesman added that the model currently excels in animation of everyday objects, drawings, paintings and nature photography, with improvements, including face animation, being planned for future updates.
