Europe means business in the cloud and AI sovereignty

For Europe, dependence on technology is a strategic responsibility. The European Commission’s technology sovereignty package offers a solution, but can it sustain its resolve?

On June 3, the European Commission submitted the following report: European technology sovereignty packageThis is a highly anticipated set of measures billed as a generational effort to address Europe’s dependence on foreign technology. Packages meet 2024 draghi report He called for reducing external dependence and increasing competitiveness in order to achieve European prosperity and security in the digital age.

The European Commission’s technology sovereignty package consists of four documents. Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA) and Chips Act 2.0 – and two strategy documents, open source strategy and Strategic roadmap for digitalization and AI in the energy sector. All in all, it’s an ambitious set of proposals.

If enacted, this package will reshape the way Europe builds, buys and trusts its digital infrastructure.
