  • Metaplatforms has announced major contracts with three nuclear power companies.
  • Oklo, Vistra Systems, and TerraPower will help power Meta's Prometheus AI supercluster.
  • The news generated strong momentum in nuclear power stocks on Friday.

Meta Platforms is turning to nuclear power to further its AI ambitions, and its latest deals with three companies have sent shares in the sector soaring.

The tech giant said it has signed contracts with several companies to help provide nuclear power to its data centers, including the massive Prometheus AI supercluster being built in New Albany, Ohio. The 1 gigawatt facility is expected to be operational later this year.

Three companies will help provide this power: Oklo, Vistra Corp., and privately held TerraPower. Both nuclear stocks soared on news of the meta-agreement, buoying many of their peers as well.

Here are Friday's big moves in this space.

This is not the first nuclear agreement that Meta has entered into. Last summer, the company announced a similar deal with Constellation Energy, and its stock price soared on the news.

“State-of-the-art data centers and AI infrastructure are essential to securing America's position as a global leader in AI,” said Joel Kaplan, Meta's global director. “Nuclear energy can help power an AI future, strengthen our nation’s energy infrastructure, and provide clean, reliable power for everyone.”

Support for nuclear energy from major technology companies has grown in recent years as experts tout the need for alternative power sources to enable the creation of AI. Oklo is backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who stepped down as chairman of the board in August 2025.

“Two years ago, Oklo shared our vision to build a new generation of advanced nuclear power plants in Ohio,” said Jacob DeWitte, Oklo CEO. “Now, with the support of a multi-year effort with Meta, that vision is becoming a reality.”
