  • Certainly Glassdoor has abandoned 1,300 people.. The CEO of the parent company, which owns both employment hunting platforms, praised the virtues of AI in a memo announcing the cut. Companies have cut 3,200 jobs in the past two years.

As if to highlight how unstable the job market today is, the employment hunting platform has actually enacted a series of layoffs.

Both the company and Glassdoor are owned by Recruit Holdings, Japan, but artificial intelligence has cut down around 1,300 jobs as it has a larger presence in the company.

The move also shows the departure of Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong.

Two departments have been affected. Research and development, people and sustainability. In a memo announcing the cuts in staffing, CEO Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba praised the power of AI, saying, “AI is changing the world. Our products must adapt by providing truly amazing experiences.

Sutherland-Wong's departure is Glassdoor, which provides employee company reviews, to make sure that the business is actually folded.

The cut follows a 1,000 layoffs in 2024 and a roughly 2,200 layoffs in 2023. It is unclear how many workers the companies are remaining after this round.

As the job market deteriorates overall, cuts and glass doors actually come. While the unemployment rate is still low at 4.2%, a report from the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity, a nonprofit focused on economic and policy research, found that nearly a quarter of Americans are “functionally unemployed.” Additionally, 20% of job seekers are looking for jobs that last 10-12 months or longer.

Meanwhile, Gen Z has found it particularly tragic for the workforce as entry-level jobs are drained due to the threat of AI.
