New Delhi: In a major statement, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates argues that while AI can take over simpler tasks, it still has no ability to handle the most complex coding challenges. In an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, the tech billionaire said experts in the field disagree about whether AI will achieve this capability within the next 1-2 years or if it will be 10 years away.
Gates also emphasized that the AI is “improving at a rate that will surprise him.” Gates stated this while distinguishing between basic AI and artificial general information (AGI). This is now a topic of common discussion.
“People talk about writing code. Simple coding tasks, AI today can replace human work. The most complicated coding task, I can't do it yet. And if it's (it's going on) in next year or two years, or the AI will be surprised. Job, gather all the material, bring it up and summarise what I need to know,” Bill Gates said in an interview on YouTube.
Gates explains the ability of AI to replace labor and human creativity, saying, “People use very different definitions. Is AI good one day, or can we say that AI is cheaper and more accurate than human beings, just doing it, doing it. Is tuberculosis just helping humans to accomplish this, or will it eventually replace humans?”
Gates can improve productivity on talking about AI roles, including pattern recognition, such as paralegals and entry-level accountants, and how it makes it difficult for university-educated graduates to find work in such fields. It's very fast because you don't have time to adapt to it, it's possible to withstand compersed because they have a larger workforce.
