ByteDance’s new artificial intelligence video model is gaining a lot of attention online as China looks for the next big leap forward in the global AI race following the success of DeepSeek.
The company officially announced the new model Seedance 2.0 on February 12th. The system quickly went viral on Chinese social media, with users praising its ability to create complex movie-style videos using just a few prompts, News.Az reported, citing Reuters.
Seedance 2.0 is designed for professionals in film production, e-commerce, advertising, and more. According to ByteDance, this model can process text, images, audio, and video simultaneously, potentially reducing content creation costs.
The announcement comes as investors and tech companies look for the next “DeepSeek moment” after the Chinese startup’s R1 and V3 models made a global impact in early 2025. Chinese media has likened the rise of Seedance 2.0 to DeepSeek’s rapid growth and global influence.
The model became even more popular after tech billionaire Elon Musk commented on a post praising the technology: “It’s moving fast.”
On Weibo, a user shared an AI-generated video demonstrating the model’s advanced features. One widely seen example shows fictional characters speaking and singing in Mandarin in a historic Chinese palace setting, highlighting the system’s ability to create detailed and complex scenes.
Hashtags related to Seedance 2.0 generated tens of millions of views, reflecting the increasing global competition in next-generation AI focused on creating video and visual content.
