A Bengaluru-based entrepreneur expressed concern over the increasing volume of job applications being generated by AI, saying this trend is making it increasingly difficult for recruiters to identify truly skilled candidates.

Raj Vikramaditya, founder of takeUforward, shared his observations in a post on X, highlighting what he described as a widespread change in employment patterns.

Recruiters are seeing an uptick in applications that lack originality and effort, he said, adding that the current hiring process is characterized by a large number of applicants and a limited number of talented candidates. He described the current situation as filled with too much noise and said it was becoming increasingly difficult to identify quality talent.

Vikramaditya gave an example of a user experience role from a recent recruitment drive at his company, where he said candidates who had already moved beyond the initial application stage failed to demonstrate basic readiness.

He said that even at advanced stages of the hiring process, many of the submissions appeared to have been copy-pasted with minimal effort or research. He noted that of the 35 candidates shortlisted for the role, only one reflected originality and hard work.

That candidate was ultimately hired, but the remaining applicants failed to meet expectations in terms of quality and preparation, he said.

The post sparked widespread discussion online, with multiple users expressing similar concerns about the increasing use of AI tools in recruitment applications. Many point out that while tools like these can make your resume look polished, they often don’t reflect your true understanding or ability, which becomes apparent later in the evaluation stage.

Some suggested that as AI-generated content becomes more commonplace, authenticity and originality are likely to become key differentiators in adoption.

This debate reflects broader changes in hiring dynamics as companies adapt to the increased use of artificial intelligence tools by job seekers, raising questions about how hiring processes will evolve to better assess actual skills and intent.
