Harper and the Artificial Intelligence Incubator Network
Mr. Harper joined the American Association of Community Colleges, Intel, and the Dell Artificial Intelligence Incubator Network. The network focused on supporting the establishment of AI labs at community colleges across the country. The AIIN network is part of Intel's AI for Workforce program, and Harper is integrating content from Intel-developed courses into his new curriculum. The purpose of the program was to “equip future and current workforces with the AI skills needed for employability in the digital economy,” or Intel AI for Workforce.
Job prospects and income
AI/ML jobs are in demand and a rapidly growing field that touches every industry, from healthcare to finance to advanced manufacturing. Because AI is an emerging field, the Bureau of Labor Statistics' occupational codes have not yet caught up with AI/ML occupational codes. However, there are BLS wage and growth projections for similar occupations, including:

Learn more about AI
“The creation of AI will almost certainly be the greatest event in human history.” – Stephen Hawking
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence exhibited by machines (perceiving, synthesizing, and reasoning about information) as opposed to the intelligence exhibited by humans. AI is an interdisciplinary field that requires deep knowledge of computational and human sciences. Examples of tasks include speech recognition, facial recognition, computer vision, translation between natural languages, and other mappings of input. AI applications include advanced web search engines. Recommendation system used by YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix. Understand human voices like Siri and Alexa. Self-driving car. Automated decision making. You can also compete in strategic game systems (such as Chess or Go).
The use of AI and other technologies in universities is opening the door to higher education for everyone, no matter where they live in the world. AI fosters curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, students become true global citizens, and universities are losing boundaries. AI is changing everything from the way students learn to the way artists create artwork to the way buildings are designed. As an example, research from Stanford University shows how interactive machine instructors can be matched to students for a more focused and personalized learning experience.
