Application and use of artificial intelligence will contribute to the development and productivity improvement of Indian IT companies

Applications of AI

The healthcare sector is rapidly adopting AI, particularly GenAI, to improve operations. Companies such as Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Tech Mahindra are integrating AI into their business processes and client services to improve efficiency and financial benefits.

This signals the industry's progress and readiness for widespread use of AI: AI bookings exceeded $900 million in the third quarter alone and reached $2 billion for the full fiscal year, as companies recognize AI's potential to drive revenue growth.

Companies are integrating AI into various areas such as customer service and manufacturing, signaling a continuing effort to monetize these technologies. AI is not just aimed at reducing costs but also at rethinking business operations to drive significant revenue growth.

Infosys has developed 225 GenAI programs and is using GitHub Copilot to generate millions of lines of code to solve business challenges and improve productivity. Wipro is integrating GenAI with traditional AI to improve productivity and generate new revenue streams, especially in the areas of customer service and healthcare.

Additionally, Tech Mahindra implemented GenAI to automate coding and scripting, improving development speed and productivity.

AI adoption varies greatly by client, but healthcare, retail and banking are leading the way, as businesses leverage AI internally to streamline operations and increase productivity.

Despite the growing momentum, AI adoption in the enterprise is expected to be gradual and will require significant internal changes. As AI continues to evolve, there is a focus on addressing challenges such as data privacy, integration complexities, and workforce upskilling.
